About Class

SYE 4506 is designed to explore the history, culture and health care of Britain through several on-line assignments, several in person classes and a two-week tour of England.

The course has seven objectives:

  • Compare history, culture and health care in England to that found in contemporary United States
  • Synthesize the diversity gained by experiencing English history, culture and health care into a responsible perspective of another global contemporary society
  • Analyze interdisciplinary perspectives of the various tour experiences scheduled in England
  • Apply active self-reflection with conscious attention to ethics and personal values to analyze experiences gained in England
  • Integrate knowledge from Otterbein’s core curriculum with knowledge from the students’ major to analyze experiences gained in England
  • Experience social and intellectual interaction with the wider community beyond Otterbein’s campus
  • Reflect on liberal arts education, its purposes and its uses
